Just curious. I'm getting antsy but I have to finish-off my apartment before I start spending cash on new A/V gear.

I wouldn't. Not only is the future of either format uncertain, but all of the players basically suck right now.

Nah, universal players are going to make the so called format war moot. They're not far off. BR has actually been losing support because despite all the promises of massive discs, they can't reliably crank-out what they already have, whereas HD-DVD has been picking-up steam b/c it's been trouble-free for all involved. I think we'll be seeing a lot of dual releases in the near term and in the long-term it won't matter. Appreciation is likely going to go HD-DVD btw, and that could be a big driving force.

Maybe it's just me, but Sony seems off the pulse.
I just got a holiday promo in the mail.
It's a woman, in her pjays sitting in a pile of Sony stuff.
It looks like she may have robbed an electronics store the night before.
With all the money spent on the mailer, nothing seemed defined, other than, buy me.
It was all so, passive.

I think Sony's been lost for a long, long time: the company's fortunes now hang on the success of one product (PS3), and they let their Walkman franchise be killed by the iPod.
