my sturdy Shure e2-c's finally crapped out on me. The right headphone cuts in and out. Can anyone suggest perhaps an upgrade to these? Are the etornomics (sic?) ones better than shure? I'm set on canal phones as I'm in airplanes quite a bit and these work the best.

thanks

I had some LiveWires made, quite happy with them. Nice noise cancelling, you can hear great detail, fits like a glove (obviously). I'd recommend them. They'll run under 300, including the audiologist appointment.

If they are in your budget, here is another vote for the ER-4 series. I used to have a set of ER-4P's, but I lost them and replaced them with ER-4S's. Avoid the ER-6.. it's their lower line and not worth the money.

I'm very happy with my Shure E4c's, which are discontinued $320 MSRP headphones that can be had for $180.

It seems like we've been over this half a dozen times already. I stick with the recommendations that I made on this topic LAST MONTH. Things haven't changed that drastically in the world of in-ear-audio.

I'd just like to point out that they're called "In-Ear Monitors" (or "IEMs" for short). Thank you. The Ultimate Ears triple.fi 10 Pros are highly recommended and if something ever happens to my er4ps I'm going to try the Ultimate Ears next. Nothing brings J-Pop and K-Pop to life like a good pair of IEMs. Whenever I see people around town wearing the factory-supplied white ubiquitous iPod earphones, I laugh derisively to myself and think "what a clueless moron".
