To Boot New York "Windsor" Wing Tip Lace-Up Shoes - $389

Salvatore Ferragamo "Fantino" Cap Toe Oxfords in Black - $495

I was able to try on the Ferragamos, size 7.5 and 8. 7.5 was perfect but the width was too tight. Hopefully a 7.5EE will work, if anyone has experience in the EE sizes of ferragamos, can you give me some more insight on it?

Anyhow, I am able to get a 36% discount on both shoes. What do you guys think about these as a first purchase? Any other recommendations?

What are you planning on using the shoes for/what are you planning on wearing them with?

I find that since ferragamos are a bit on the narrower side, an EE ferragamo is pretty close to a D for Allen Edmonds.

Those To Boot wingtips are horrible. Balmoral wingtips drive me nuts, first off. Secondly, for as much as those cost, you could get something that's definitely made in a First World country and goodyear welted.

The Ferragamos might be goodyear welted, but you could get a nearly identical pair that are of the same quality, if not nicer, from Allen Edmonds. Check out the Park Avenue.

My advice? Spend less than you would on two pairs and grab one pair of Crockett & Jones. If you currently don't have any high-quality dress shoes, you'll be fine with a single pair. The future will ineluctably arrive, and you'll be able to afford a second pair of Crockett & Jones.
