Yes, yes - I get it. Not the generally cup of tea for this place. But I dig it, and that's enough for me.

Thanks, everyone. I'll probably just suck it up and get a regular DJ.

Well, the point is also that it doesn't take a special tailor to make something like that for you. If you really must have it, you can get it from anyone.

Anybody can you make you a white jacket with black facings. But they shouldn't.

I didn't say can't I said won't. Do you really think any tailor would make a jacket like this? Heck, can you imagine Rubinacci allowing someone to commission this jacket from them? I can't.

If pressed hard enough, I bet most tailors would.

Master Shake, if you wanted this jacket made for you, where would you go?

I'm not going to join the others who say you shouldn't get something like this at all, or that a tailor will refuse to make it (doubtful). I just don't think you should go to Field's and spend a ton of money on it given its novelty and the fact that you probably won't wear it all that much. Have you seen this thread? It mentions a bunch of tailors in the DC area and is about getting a tuxedo made by one of them. Mr. Ned's is probably a good idea if you want this to be fully-canvassed and can get to NYC. I've never used them or seen their products, so I can't vouch for their build or silhouettes or shoulders, etc., but an outfit like Suit Supply and My Suit might work out for you as well, although the quality will probably not be as good as Mr. Ned's.

I looked that up, actually. How do their tours work, exactly? Surely they won't be in town long enough for me to really have a "bespoke" experience, or whatever that is.

You do one meeting per tour - so they come through once, measure you, fit a vest-like garment to you that I guess they use as a reference point for making the jacket, then you have another fitting next time they come around. They seem to come around every 4-5 months or so. So depending on how many fittings you want/need, it'll take about a year from first meeting to finished product. For a jacket like this, all costs included, you're probably looking at around $2k.

Haha, if anything, I appreciate the... passion. It's better than indifference. I really understand the jacket isn't everyone's bag, or even most people's. And, trust me, I wouldn't be donning this for serious or truly formal events. I have a RLBL tux for that. I just like the jacket.

Suit supply is probably indeed a good place to try for a jacket like that. Otherwise,

Depending on how long you're willing to wait, you could make an appointment with WW Chan - they are coming through again in March.

+2; there's lots of info on here how their system works.
