Raccoons and possums too. Possums are definitely around in the city. I see them all the time.

I'm dubious about the 98 percent urban stat, too. Unless you are counting every incorporated municipality as "urban". I would say that calling Milford or Longview as "urban" really stretches the definition.

Coyotes and raccoons are everywhere. I have no clue about rattlesnakes outside of central Texas, but they (and cactuses) are all over here.


Lived there in the '70s, and there weren't any. Rifle owners went squirrel hunting and even called their weapons "squirrel guns." Wildlife was hunted almost to extinction in the '20s. I guess it made a big recovery once the squirrel-eating generation died off.

I compare it to walking up a hilly but residential street in LA at night, and having two coyotes trot past me -- then seeing a deer on a golf course a couple days later.
