I'm going to purchase 3-4 Brooks Brothers slim ties during the Semi-Annual sale to add to the 5 ties I have now: 1 Red, 1 Gray, 2 Dark Blue, 1 Brown. I have very little style sense, so I tend to wear a lot of white and other solid color shirts. I also don't wear ties every day and I never wear suit jackets. I'd like to expand my shirt & tie options a bit, but get lost in color/pattern combinations. Can anyone help recommend some of the more versatile ties and what kind of shirts I could add to wear them with?

p.s.- I seem to be drawn to diagonal stripe ties for some reason (3 of my current 5 are), but these seem to give me the most trouble matching due to the multiple colors and I don't want to have all my ties look the same. For an idea though, I like these:

HELP PLEASE!!

There all nice, very versatile. I would go with all of them but either way you can't go wrong.

Can't really go wrong with any of them IMO.

All of them seem like they'd work with any basic color palette. Those types of ties are harder NOT to match.

Any recommendations for something a little bolder than white shirt/tie? Just something to get started on dressing a little more outside the box.
