Appreciate the feedback but looking just at pictures is not always easy to determine quality (for me anyways).  I am also no expert in the area even if I had the sweater in my hand.  I would not consider myself a brand whore.  I do stick to buying brands that have received positive reviews on Styleforum.  I should say, I have been introduced to brands on Styleforurm that after purchasing will continue to do so because I like the quality and fit of the products.  My brands of choice are D'Avenza for sport coats, Panta for pants and Barba or Vincenzo di Ruggerio for shirts.  Not exactly what I would call household names outside of Styleforum like Hugo Boss or Armani but that is only my opinion.
Regards,
Mark

I understand but sellers know that Kiton is a household name associated with high quality fabric and construction. People with little to no knowledge of clothes will naturally gravitate towards Kiton. Sellers will take advantage of this and start selling fakes knowing that people will buy them once they see the tags. Even the brand themselves will put out substandard products in order to take advantage of their halo effect.

I like how it's the buyer's fault that the seller is selling counterfeit items. 'If you didn't want Kiton so much, sellers wouldn't want to counterfeit it!' Really don't know what to say here. This was a simple inquiry about whether an item was fake. People responded with proof that the seller has sold fake items in the past, so it would be best to stay away from a seller with so little scruples. And then you barge in, telling the buyer to 'quit brand whoring'. You then follow up your post with stating that the proof that the item is fake is not because it's actually fake, but because he's selling it as an auction with no reserve, which is utterly and completely wrong.

Jeez.

oops, we are talking about two different listings.

the first listing, the green sweater, looks as legit as any Kiton product I've handled and the seller seems to have sold a lot of Kiton items. The second listing is obviously fake.

Ask the seller for a pic of the fabric tag.
