Okay, so I have been looking for dress shoes for so long that are not lame, and I have been striking out. Maybe you can help me?

What I'm looking for, specifically, are shoes with a thin sole because normal mens dress shoes, like what you can get at Bloomingdale's, look like friggin' heals to me. I hate when the toe is very rounded, and I hate when they are very squared off, too. I want them to look like they are very tight to my foot. I've seen them on well-dressed guys before, but I can't tell where they're coming from.

And please don't suggest that I ask them where they got them, because I've already considered that option and would only do it drunk. On the subway or something it's rude because you might embarrass them.

I'm a big fan of Zara's dress shoes. If you're on a budget, and want sharp looking stylish pointy dress shoes, look no further. Of course the quality can't match up to $300+ of the more popular brands in this forum. But for about $120, can't really complain. Mine is still holding up after the going through the fierce Northern winters.

There are tell tale signs of quality which are really what you should be looking for. Name brands will give you some of the qualities, but not all. I would recommend researching marks of a well made dress shoe and go from there. You will find price points for certain qualities and can narrow down your costs from there.

Look at the shoe Appreciation thread, see if that is what you are talking about?

Not enough information for me to respond other than to say, it sounds as though you are looking for Italian shoes, but conservative. Try googling Lorenzo Banfi and Moreschi--two conservative houses that make comfortable (even wide-ish) shoes.

I have links for both at home, but I'm putzing around at work right now.

Hard to know what he is talking about. OP sounds like he is 16 and doesn't know how to communicate very well.
