Finally, and perhaps most likely, the heels and toes of the lasts are finished by hand after the other parts of the last are copied, because the lathe on which the lasts are turned needs to attach to the front and back of the last. Thus, there is no doubt that the toes of the lasts could have some variance which would obviously be transferred to the finished shoes.Originally Posted by shoefan
+1, and I'd say there'd be even more variance if these shoes were all hand lasted (seeing the EG video I'm pretty sure they are machine-lasted).
