If SimonC is the guy from Permanent Style then there is no way my report will beat his but here goes.... (I saw you there Simon, after being an avid reader of your blog I felt like I was in the presence of a celebrity!! Too embarrassed to introduce myself
No, I'm not Simon Crompton. The benefit of being him was that he arrived at 12.05 when there was a huge queue and got waved straight in...
10.5UK+proxy+proxy fee=win for me. Come on my overseas brethren.
My friend got there for 12:30 and queued for almost 1.5hrs - he reckons he spotted a group of sellers. Some people left because the queue was too long and he saw some people leave empty handed.
EG were limited to 5 pairs per customer - he saw shoes upto £450 in price, there were lots of 5-7, 11.5-13 sized shoes, about 15 shoes in 8.5 (my size) although some were f width. He picked up a pair for himself and a few pairs for me. Socks were 3 for £20 and varied, there was the standard EG,marked Gallo's and Scott Nichol's for EG. I asked him to get me plain black socks, but there was only one pair in my size.
Drakes - no limit, ties were £45 or 3 for £120, he got 5 navy ties for himself and a wool tie for me. No cashmere ties and there were only 5 shirts. The people from Drake's told him, one of the first customers brought 45 pocket squares and they regretted not putting a limit on purchases.
There will be some re-stocking, although moreso Drake's. He overheard a conversation with someone from Drakes's and a customer, his brother wanted to come on Thursday and asked if it was worthwhile - he said for shoes probably not, but for ties yes.

I certainly saw nothing at 80% off, so it depends what you want - adding a pair to your wardrobe at less than retail you'll be OK, but nothing is dirt cheap.
I was also told that Drake's will be restocking throughout the week.
