1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Enjoy boys! And I though the Olympic games are what's causing a fuss across the pond.

If anyone has buyer's remorse and wears 6.5/7E let me know :embar:

Lol @ anyone wanting a proxy. At up to 80% of, the buyer can buy them for cheap enough and then still sell them without a hitch at a reasonably profitable price. Why would the seller go through all that trouble SF'ers will be like: is there a box? Bags? what color? Can you get in a different color? are they first quality? How much is shipping? Can i have a relative who is visiting in 2 months pick up from you? can I get a discount? Can I get a discount if i buy two pairs? can I get them for free? Etc

    El oh el, SF

Well that was somewhat underwhelming. A good selection including classic models starting from 295 and up with most around the 395 mark. I certainly saw nothing at 80% off, so it depends what you want - adding a pair to your wardrobe at less than retail you'll be OK, but nothing is dirt cheap. There was an enormous queue at 12 though.

Note they have more stock in the basement and will be restocking through the sale.

If SimonC is the guy from Permanent Style then there is no way my report will beat his but here goes.... (I saw you there Simon, after being an avid reader of your blog I felt like I was in the presence of a celebrity!! Too embarrassed to introduce myself [IMG])

Only 10 people allowed in at a time, I was #13 [IMG]

Pretty small place, crowded and hot.

Drake's - Most pocket squares were snapped up within the first 5 seconds (I think I know by who...) Decent selection of ties, most I liked were to skinny.

Shoes - In my size, very little that appealed under the 395 mark. Everything I liked was either a weird width or someone else's size.
I totally forgot to take pictures from inside [IMG][IMG] However, pictures of my swag and some other random things below.

No, I'm not Simon Crompton. The benefit of being him was that he arrived at 12.05 when there was a huge queue and got waved straight in...

They had a huge section of 10/10.5 - much bigger than 11/8.5/9, that's where I was looking anways...

My friend got there for 12:30 and queued for almost 1.5hrs - he reckons he spotted a group of sellers. Some people left because the queue was too long and he saw some people leave empty handed.

EG were limited to 5 pairs per customer - he saw shoes upto £450 in price, there were lots of 5-7, 11.5-13 sized shoes, about 15 shoes in 8.5 (my size) although some were f width. He picked up a pair for himself and a few pairs for me. Socks were 3 for £20 and varied, there was the standard EG,marked Gallo's and Scott Nichol's for EG. I asked him to get me plain black socks, but there was only one pair in my size.

Drakes - no limit, ties were £45 or 3 for £120, he got 5 navy ties for himself and a wool tie for me. No cashmere ties and there were only 5 shirts. The people from Drake's told him, one of the first customers brought 45 pocket squares and they regretted not putting a limit on purchases.

There will be some re-stocking, although moreso Drake's. He overheard a conversation with someone from Drakes's and a customer, his brother wanted to come on Thursday and asked if it was worthwhile - he said for shoes probably not, but for ties yes.

Nice report. The 45 pocket square customer was the first person in!

I felt so much more relaxed that I just went there to enjoy the sale and see what waas going on than try to get stuff to flip. I got a pair of shoes someone asked me to proxy but the rest was for me or friends.

I was also told that Drake's will be restocking throughout the week. The lady told me she was shocked how fast stuff sold.

Edit: In the 3rd picture I posted you can see the 45 pocket square order.

Actually the had some shoes which were just 50 quid. Although conventional in styling and manufacture, they were in some unbelievably nasty metallic gold, silver, bronze. Something Gilbert and George might have worn in their Living Sculptures days, when they performed with metallic make-up "Underneath the Arches" or "Bend it!". (I presume these shoes were made for some show or photo-shoot.)

On my way to the venue, I saw a Japanese couple (boy and girl) who obviously had struck gold and carried their loot, four pairs each. Arriving at the shop, there were about fifty people waiting in line and the queue moved very, very slowly. Firstly, the shop is very small and it only needs six punters and the five sales people to get it dangerously overcrowded, secondly. shoes (even reduced ones) are not bought as quickly as the latest Harry Potter novel or Justin Bieber CD.

After waiting some 75 minutes, I was let in, but nothing whatsoever in a narrow size: I want 9 C or 9 1/2 B. Everything catered for the Yetis of this world.

Do you know if they are re-stocking on the same day or for each day, may go on Friday to get some ties?
