I just made the mistake of checking out the CE food fight. Not pretty.

Internet pontificating = fail.

Definitely yes to the original question.

I love the fact that I've found clothes & shoes that fit me both in terms of my physique and tastes. I hate the fact that I'm much poorer than I would have been if I had never stumbled upon this site...

I gave it up for a few months recently because I got tired of spending money and I was much happier as a result. I've recently returned and I'm much happier as a result because I've been able to find some good deals on things I really enjoy wearing. Of course those good deals made me poorer. On it goes...

Spending money gives a buzz which is normally quickly turning into a guilt trip and depression... It is the perfect Catch 22...You need self-gratification , you spend , you feel guilty and depressed for your lack of self-control and you look already for the next fix to self-medicate your depression...

The only great thing with SF : We're learning to buy quality...

Yes, but I can't help feeling that drug addicts have more fun...

I think this is true as well, and I fell prey to it for a bit. I started out in MC, then I hit my 100 posts and discovered CE and got sucked in. I've actually made a concerted effort recently to look at MC as much as any other forum. After all I came here because of my interest in clothes.

That said, DT and CE threads generate more posts than do most MC threads. If I'm debating a political issue with someone I'm much more likely to post in one thread repeatedly than I am if I'm simply offering my input on an item of clothing or particular look. This being the case, I think it's possible to spend an equal amount of time in MC yet post more elsewhere.

This is actually why I had a absence from SF for almost a year. When I first joined, I had already been reading the site daily. The ease of the B/S Forum made me far poorer, far faster than I would ever had anticipated.

As a result, I left it for a bit. But frankly, there are few other places I can go to "hear" such enjoyable, snarky, sarcastic banter while learning a ton about proper fit, patterns, styles, and history of clothing. This is one of the few places where I will actually laugh out loud at some of the comments. My fiancee thinks I'm crazy as I'm laughing to myself reading this dammed forum.

Styleforum is like an online country club without dues. And considering that no one in real life gives a **** about my latest RLBL acquisition, my new knit tie, or my great Isaia find at NM Last Call, where the hell else could I go?

Kicking heroin is easier than quitting Styleforum, at this point.

Are we in need of an SFA structure with secretive meetings ? Style Forum Anonymous ...
If you spend your money on a suit or a bespoke pair of shoes or worse on buying the same garnment again and again , you qualify for SFA...
