Aliens was pretty good but was not able to recreate the impact of the original. ET seemed great when I was a kid, but after seeing it again recently, it doesn't hold up as I hoped it would.

Joking aside, my view of the matter is that given the immensity of the universe, the possibility of other planets containing intelligent life forms seem fairly high.

That they are buzzing around here in flying saucers or other UFOs, I am highly skeptical. It has been 60 years since the Roswell Incident, for example, and yet the putative visiting aliens have never really made themselves known or done anything of consequence for good or ill. As I think I have remarked before in one of these fora, I should like to think that beings with the intelligence and technological capability to navigate interstellar space to reach our planet would find something better to do with their time than chase cars down deserted highways in Arizona or terrorize fishermen in their shrimp boats out of Pascagoula!

Well, maybe they don't have a good picture of what's going on on this planet and what we are capable of given the fact that they only seem to abduct and probe the most, um, intelligence deficient members of our society.

Several years ago, I dialed a wrong number, and ended up having an intensely interesting conversation with an old woman. Somehow she thought I was the FBI calling her back about her UFO sighting. She ranted about how the local sheriff made fun of her, how her neighbors told her she was senile, etc so she escalated it to the FBI. I spent a good 15 minutes on the phone with her, as it was just too funny to let go. She went into great detail about the UFO, describing the noise it makes, when it visits each week, etc.

At first I thought maybe she just liked screwing with people that got the wrong number (I think I misdialed a pizza place or something). Then I started to think that perhaps she was just lonely and needed someone to talk to about anything. She sounded so sincere though, maybe she was a little crazy. I guess some things we'll never know.

We ain't that special. Somewhere in the vast universes and galaxies, there're other life forms.

You'd be marsupialed to not believe in aliens. I would assume there are other life forms that operate in different frequencies, different dimensions, etc. Very few would actually look like martians you see in the movies.

There are some pretty fascinating discussions on Coast to Coast with Art Bell and George Noory, if you want to check out the quacks. Crap, I forgot I am paying for webcasts for this ****. Haven't listened for months.

Exactly. It seems that when discussing extraterrestrial life, everybody is a biological probability theorist. We can't even nail down how life began on this planet.
