Did I kill my jacket?

Hi All,

I've had this suit tucked away in the back of my closet for some time due to a couple of reasons. Firstly the button fell off and I haven't replaced it but more importantly I think the jacket has been ruined from either dry cleaning or my stupid attempts to iron the jacket.

Basically I think the outer suit material has fused with something on the inside causing some terrible looking wrinkles in the jacket.

Can anyone advise me if the wrinkles are recoverable or is it off to the Salvation Army?

Thanks, G

The perils of a fused jacket I think. I've had this happen before and was never able to correct it.

The wrinkles look pretty insignifigant to me, I say get the button re stiched. The wrinkles look mild enough to be steamed or pressed out. If you really like the suit it's worth salvaging if not then just go ahead and pitch it.

Furthermore it looks like most of the worst wrinkles are under the lapel, no?

untrue. i had a jacket dry cleaned, and they pressed the lapel incorrectly messing up the roll and actually making one side appear larger than the other. at this point i couldnt wear it so i figured i had nothing to lose. i steamed the lapel crease out and since it was fused it did ripple like this. i then pressed the jacket on a relatively high heat through a cotton handkerchief and the ripples settled down and the lapel looks better than when i bought it. i still wear it looking sharp on a weekly basis.

+1. If you're lucky, a good pressing will make the puckering/bubbling disappear forever. If you're unlucky, you may have to repress before each wear or two.
