My sister is going to Kyoto in a couple of days, and I'm going to ask her to bring me back some denim. I found this thread, which was helpful, and contained this link. Sufu is down, btw. I was thinking of getting something from Denime. I'm tall and athletic, looking for something raw with a relaxed fit. My favorite jeans are 5EP straight downs. If I could change anything, I'd decrease the rise on the 5EPs by one inch. That would be my ultimate jean. Does Denime make anything like I'm describing? Which model would that be? I'm guessing it would be either the New S or WWII jeans. Does anyone know the difference between those two? Are the XX jeans the ones to get?

Anything else in the area worth a trip?

I'm not exactly sure how they are cut or what the details are, but the Denime store in Kyoto has a "Kyoto special edition" model. It would be something a little different from their traditional line.
I know Naoto from mynudies has them.

That's a lot slimmer then the SD, isn't it? Sounds like he wants more of a repro 1966 cut.

I don't think it's much slimmer than the SD... the SD is pretty slim. It might have 0.5" more or so of taper than the SD but not a lot.

Denime's cuts are all vintage-inspired so you won't be able to find a relaxed cut with low rise. It's either slim and low rise or relaxed and high rise.
I think what might suit you best is the Samurai S5000VX or S5000BK if you want black jeans.
It's like a regular cut with a fairly low rise.
