Hi again. Sorr

Hi. Sorry for tech difficulties. These look like mine. I have the dark brown kudu leather wholecut. They are the nicest looking shoes I have. If they are exactly like mine they are the 1984 anniversary model. More pictures to see the overall shoes would be great.

I have a question for Daxman or someone in the know regarding older Dacks (Made in Canada). How does one interpret the shoe size? I have a pair with the numbers 511 2110 14 and then below that, 209 61 84. Any info much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there. This looks like a question for daxman as he has answered these questions previously. Hopefully he is still following this thread. I have worn several pairs of Dack's and have 2 near-new pairs on eBay now as they are just too small. The new ones under the dacks name are not quite the same unfortunately. As for the numbers I think they identify the last, the size and a date code. Again, hopefully Daxman can provide input.

Those are probably made in England by Cheaney. Look inside the shoe near the middle and you are likely to see something that says "Made in England." If that is the case, then most likely they're Cheaney.

THE RESPONSE ABOVE IS TOTALLY INCORRECT ...

ALL OF THE BOND STREET LINE WERE PRODUCED IN ENGLAND INITIALLY BY WILLIAM GREEN & SON ( GRENSON ), THEN WAS JOINED BY JOSEPH CHEANEY & SON, BEGINNING IN THE EARLY 1950s AFTER MY FATHER PURCHASED DACK'S SHOES IN 1947 ...

SEE THIS WEBPAGE FOR CHEANEY HISTORY -

http://www.cheaney.co.uk/aboutus.php

BOTH DACK'S SHOES AND THE HARTT BOOT AND SHOE COMPANY, WHICH WERE NOW MADE IN THE FACTORY IN FREDERCITON, NEW BRUNSWICK, WERE SOLD IN JUNE 1964 TO CHURCH'S ENGLISH SHOES AFTER WHICH MY FATHER REMAINED A MINORITY SHAREHOLDER IN THE WHOLE OPERATION WHILE I REMAINED WITH THE COMPANY, WORKING IN THE TORONTO OFFICE, UNTIL 1970.

Good evening ~
Thank you for that information Clay Marston , re the Bond Street and your Father's and family owned business.

I would like to say hello , I am new here , but have read this thread several times over the last couple of years.

I would like to ask a question and maybe some of you fine folks , especially Daxman and the Colonel 77 might know .?

How are the sizes determined in Dack shoes with out what it appears to a size # or a width letter .
I have a several pairs of Vintage Dack's , this new acquisition for me is a NOS new old stock , Black blucher derby ,heavy gunboats style , 7 brass nail waist . The last number inside states and reads like this. They appear larger then a men's US/CAN size 8.

590 3086 8
110501 84

Is there a place i can learn to decipher the last number's .
Thanks in advance .
cheers.

i will try and post a photo , i have taken.

GOOD EVENING ...

OUR ORIGINAL ENTRIES WERE ALL UNDER NAME OF ' COLONEL77 ', ALTHOUGH FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON THIS PAGE WOULD NOT OPEN EARLIER SO WENT WITH FACEBOOK PAGE ENTRY UNDER MY OWN NAME ...

WITH RESPECT TO SIZING, YOU MIGHT WISH TO READ THROUGH ALL ENTRIES FROM BEGINNING TO NOW AS THERE ARE SOME GOOD AND PROPER EXPLANATIONS DEPENDING ON WHICH SHOE STYLES ARE BEING SHOWN OR DISCUSSED ...

HOWEVER, IT APPEARS SOME PEOPLE HAVE ENTERED SOME INCORRECT DATA ABOUT SIZING SO YOU NEED TO READ AS MANY OF THESE ENTRIES IN ORDER TO FIGURE OUT MORE OF THIS ...

MANY YEARS AGO, BEFORE I LEFT THE BUSINESS, THE MAKE NUMBERS WERE EASIER TO FIGURE OUT AS YOU WILL NOTE IF YOU LOCATE ANY VINTAGE STYLES MADE BEFORE THE 1980s ...

ANOTHER THING YOU CAN DO IS TO TAKE A SHOE TO ANY TOP OF THE LINE SHOE STORE YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH AS IT IS LIKELY THEY CAN SEE WHAT YOU HAVE THEN EXPLAIN THE NUMBERS IN WHATEVER SHOES THEY ARE SELLING SO THAT DIFFERENCES WOULD BE NOTED WITH RESPECT TO EUROPEAN AS AGAINST NORTH AMERICAN SIZING NUMBERS ...

HOPE THE ABOVE MIGHT PROVE USEFUL TO YOU.

Thank you for your reply.
I have just re read all 13 pages at your suggestion , i am still baffled with the numbers written in my shoes to decipher the size and width.

This is what shows in the shoes, written with two lines of numbers one above , one below .

590 3086 8
110501 84

Any one ?

Cheers

590 means 9E. The first number is the width number: i.e, 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E. The next two numbers are the size: 9.0 in your case. An 8.5B would be 285.

TonyLamer ~ Thank you so much, now that makes sense . Would the numbers below have significance of the date of production?

Look forward to your reply.

Cheers
