That natty HH looks more appealing to me than Whiskey Shell. Partly because of the price & partly because I know how well the regular strip from Horween wears.

I emailed Kyle @ Bakers to see how many people would be required to make a group buy a go and to get details on what the leather is like & where it is sourced from. Build would be Semi-Dress.

@PACostag - can you tell us the feel, weight, finish & softness/strength of the Natural HH is the same or similar to the Burgundy HH?

Ill make a post here with what I hear back & in the meantime perhaps folks can consider (not commit) if it's something they're interested in.

If someone else is already working on this let me know. Don't want to step on any toes or mess up the Shell group buy.

Kyle hit me back & they have a new website opening up soon. This will allow for coordinating group buys so people can place deposits etc. I can ask about the having a "double group buy" however I do not see this being easy to coordinate and likely impossible.

10-12 people is minimum for group buy.

Also, BIG NEWS: June 1st the 50/50 last will be available (limited options I assume).

IMHO - this may be a great option for a group buy.

No you haven't missed anything, I've just taken a couple PMs on it and i'm chatting with Kyle - sourcing right now is the biggest question up in the air. I'm just sparking interest at the moment, as there are many unknowns. If you'd like to be added to the "list" please send me a PM.

And finally, on sizing, I have never in my life seen anyone recommend buying the same size in White's as you do in "shoes you're probably used to ordering." You're spending a lot - just send your fit sheet to Baker's or White's (or both) and let the experts tell you what's what.

I'm definitely with iambatman here. White's sizes are waaaaaay different to anything else I've ever encountered.

My brannock is a 13½ -14 B or C. When I used to buy nothing but Danner's, they were all size 14D. My White's size is a 12C or D. Go figure.

My advice to anyone new to White's, is to ignore any thought you have about what size you are. Send in your tracings and measurements, or (if you can) try a pair on.

Just my humble opinion. (and nothing to get angry about, )

First pair of whites - owned many pairs of vibergs/Alden’s/RW/carmina and these (aside from Indy’s) are some of the most comfortable out of the box fit I’ve had (went TTS after in person fitting.) Very happy with the boots. This price for a MTO boot is great and I will 100% be picking up a pair of MTO semi dress from bakers in the near future. ****** fit pic at the end

I agree... the Alden TruBalance last is extremely comfortable... it is the only last that comes close to the 38 Swing for my foot shape... now if White's would ditch the Barrie last and offer the TruBalance in the MP, I would be in high cotton!

Seems like the sensible play here is smashing these two together and doing this on the Bounty Hunter

Let me add my 2 cents to all these recent posts about sizing. For me, my brannock size (measured with thin dress socks) worked just fine for my 55 lasted semi dress boots, but I would have likely wanted to size down if I didn't wear them with boot socks. My point being that it is my belief that White's are generally sized to accommodate your bare foot brannock size plus decently robust boot socks. I'll also add that folks are often ambiguous about their sock selection when posting how they were measured on a brannock or when describing fit.

My White’s size for #4811 and #55 is 8.5E worn with heavy woollen socks, while my Brannock size is 9.5E-EE.

The toe cap is lighter than the vamp, which is lighter than the counters, which are lighter than the shaft... I know shell pieces are small, but should the colors not at least attempt to match... only the vamp is what I think of as Whisky color... if I paid for shell, I would not want a patchwork boot...

IMHO the color should be consistent...if Mark Albert can do it, so can White's...

But at least we know the answer to whether White's will do toe caps on shell boots...
