I still can't believe that Mike let Walt get his go bag for him. Yes, he was pretty desperate, but it was still a huge break in the Mike character.

Hope you read the link with an interview Mike's character, he's asked about a lot of the plot holes involving his character the past few episodes. He essentially said he personally didn't understand them either but it was up to the writers.

I found it pretty bizzare he let Walt get the bag for him. I think the writers were being lazy. They should have written it to have him want Jesse or Saul to get it, and after the call Walt finagles a way to assert himself as the one getting the bag. There was so much animosity between Walt and Mike it was also odd Mike let loose on Walt when he could've simply kept his mouth shut, grabbed the bag, and left. Inelegant. But having listened to the insider podcast on the episode, they used a first time director for the episode.

PS - After all this ****, it'd be pretty lame if cancer is all that gets Walt in the end.

I'm thinking that Hank will finally get his first big clue that Walt is behind it all. Not sure if they can have it be completely revealed to him and the DEA at this point in the show, but it will be something strong to point them in that way.

No, had not read/heard any insider stuff. Glad it's not just me seeing some incongruousness with the Mike character lately. Agree with you on Mike's last rant. My only thought is his antipathy for Walt was so huge he let it get the better of him.

As to cancer being the end of Walt: I think it's sort of fitting. They took this wimpy school teacher, had him triumph over all sorts of people, but he can't triumph over his own body.

Sklyar/kids taken hostage? Walt have Jesse at gun point? Hank running out to serve a warrant on Heisenberg?

Because of the cold open, something like this is most likely. Gilligan said the meaning of the cold open would become apparent this year.

(Of course, when have we ever been right? :tounge: )

So we have one more episode this "season" right? Any theories on what the cliffhanger will be?

Walt kills Jesse.

You heard it here first.

One thing nobody's mentioned:

In the last episode, during the scene in Hank's office, there was one shot near the end. It was a fly-on-the-wall shot, when Gomie came in and needed to talk to Hank about the search warrant. It was very odd-looking, not typical for the show, and appeared to use a very-wide angle lens. I immediately wondered if we'd see a subsequent shot of a security camera, but none came. However, I'm still thinking that might happen. If so, even though Hank and his team wouldn't know what Walt was doing, they'd know he was up to something. There may even have been a sweep of Hank's office previously; often, if they find something, they'll send out a false tip to see if and where the reaction might come from. Also, Hank may have suspected anybody: cleaning crew, Walt, rogue agent...so setting up a camera might have caught the perp (though it certainly wan't in the best place). Thoughts?

Did anybody really not think Gale was dead?

Yes. I don't know if it was anybody here, but a number of people thought Jesse had turned and fired to the side because of the camera movement. It got so much attention that Gilligan had to state in the press that Gale was a goner.

I don't remember many people thinking he was not dead, but they did make sure to hammer the point in during the first moments of the next seasons' premier.

That's silly. The show has not at all been hesitant about killing characters or trying to trick us. It's been very straightforward.

Yeah, it was a pretty big thing. I suppose a lot of people are so used to having curve balls thrown at them by this show that they interpreted the camera movement right before the shot as being Jesse moving his arm at the last moment and -- presto! -- Gale's alive the following season. It never even occurred to me when I saw it, but hey....

That's how I saw it. In retrospect they were showing you Gale's POV but it was staged in such a way as to make you think "did he or didn't he?"

Maybe it was intentional. I dunno. If they wanted it to look like Jesse may have swung away, only his arm/shoulder would have moved, not his whole upper body. Right before the shot we can see Jesse facing the camera. But I digress...
