Corduroy pants: proper length? like pants or denim?

What is the appropriate or accepted length for cords? Should they be longer like denim, or have minimal break like dress slacks?

Any input appreciated!

Completely depends on the fit.

I think with a skinnier cut some stacking would look nice, but nowhere near the extreme of denim.

In terms of slim but not constrictive, a slight break like trousers. Or you could go no break.

In my head i'm seeing them stop short enough to see socks, not necessarily as much as say Get Smart shows on occasion, but slightly less depending on the shoe.

I think they should be shorter than denim, I'm 6 foot and don't wear my pants too low and I generally like a 30 lenghth if its cords, chinos, or slacks. Although cords are probably the most forgiving due to the the texture. www.hyrcollective.com

Once I bought some slimmer corduroys with an inseam longer than I normally get with the idea that there would be some neat stacking...

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.

It just doesn't work. The fabric doesn't fall right to stack, it just makes a terrible break. Maybe if it was super thick corduroy, but these were pretty thick as it was. I think its because the actual fabric of corduroy is thin but the wale makes it seem thicker so the fabric breaks and falls based on the thinner fabrics properties which doesn't lend itself to stacking at all.

I have my cords finished off at the same length as my dress pants...the cuff, hem of the trouser leg just brushes the vamp of my shoes, with the back of the cuff extending 1/2 way down the heel of my shoes.

Does anyone line-dry their cords? Unlike my denim, my cords see the inside of the washer & dryer on a regular basis.

So I have new cotton cords hemmed long - about an inch longer than wool dress pants - and then I wash and dry them (medium heat) at home. They shrink and shrink. Sometimes I get through every stage of length, from too long to no break. I also size up an inch in the waist for new cords.

I wash and dry them inside out. When they are done, the wales are plump and fluffy and if I hang them promptly, they will be not much wrinkled (if at all) when it's time to wear them.

... adding, if they look crappy because they are too long, then I wear them on weekends until the length is better. If/when they are too long, I think they look better with boots.
