China the copying king is sort of ironic considering the country has a history of producing so many wonderful objects in the past. Its amazing how communism managed to destroy creativity for nearly a hundred years and only now are things getting better.

So... some guy copies an old design but makes it huge and then it's used as a symbol against copying designs?

Okay.

The Arachnide lounge chair--designed by Studioforma, a Swiss architecture firm.

Does it make up for the ConTrad thread? Can anything?

I didn't think you'd like it. More to your wife's taste, no?

i love it because it looks like it should be in a sci-fi movie and it should start to walk away when the world goes to hell.

that's exactly why the wife dislikes it (it's scary).

I've been lusting after this chair for a while but this is the first time I've seen it where the legs are wood. (Typically they are metal.) Now I like it even more. Obviously, it does take a cushion.

for reference, here it is with the usual metal legs. and a cushion.
