Manton, where did I stray from conservative business dress? Just curious.

Geoff, Re: cuffs. Just to be clear, completely a comfort thing and not some affected aesthetic choice--this particular shirt, one of a few RTW shirts I still have in rotation, has way too tight cuffs, so I always have them unbuttoned. Less than ideal, but I choose to keep wearing it anyways. Re: shirt collar: This is from Aster, an Italian shirtmaker that I recently heard is no more. The operation/factory was sold to another company who intend to produce RTW tailored clothing. A shame, as I really did like the shirts. You can probably still find a few floating around though; the closure was very recent. The name of the collar style in this case is "Ariet." It's actually taller in the front than it looks here, and the points are longer (probably deceptive pic angle). I've also removed the stays to get the softer, curved shape.

My white linen squares are in a tv fold for suits and a triangle shape or have points showing for sport coats/blazers. I agree that a tv fold is too formal for sportcoats/blazers.

White can never be distracting and can go with everything, as long as it doesn't interfere [i.e. show too much of itself] with the overall picture.

Yes [completes the breast pocket complements the rest] . . .

No [sticks out and competes with the rest, particularly the pouf] . . .

-not really qualified to discuss whether it's conservative business dress or not, but am I the only one thinking the pouf keeps that tie in check?

I wear a TV fold with anything, in fine '60s fashion.

Just because you've seen it in this thread, doesn't make it conservative business dress. I think the last and style of the shoes lacks elegance. What is wrong with wearing something like a JL Phillip II, or the G&G Oxford (GG06)? Granted, we can't all wear $1500 or $1000 shoes, but there are similarly styled shoes available for less money, such as the C&J Belgrave. There is a great deal of elegance in simple style, done well, IMO. I think this is what Manton does so well.

Damn - I like that linen. It has an almost denim look to it.

Source?
