Cologne: Trumper/Truefitt vs Taylor

Taylor is about half the price of the Trumper/Truefitt, and even if the latter have better products, is the difference worth the price?

I have never tried Taylor; £19 for 100ml vs £35-40 for 100ml does look appealing, although £49.50 for a 500ml refill from Trumper does bring the best cost/ml (even if including a 50ml bottle)

Of the three, I like the Trumper colognes the most . I was going to mention the great price on Trumper refills. They're in plastic containers so you'll have to buy an atomizer or splash it on. English colognes can smell great but almost all of them suffer from horrible longevity. Trumper Portugal and the Trumper's EDC are both so appealing (I love the Neroli/Orange Rind smell of Portugal) but short lived. Same goes for every Trumper except the Sandalwood. Trufitt's most popular cologne is Grafton, if I recall. I was unimpressed. They're pretty expensive. Another company is Penhaligon, which also has some nice but expensive fragrances. Penhaligon's Castille is a good one to try out if you find it. Taylor of Old Bond St have some quality fragrances - at least the few that I tried were quite pleasant. I'd say get the big bottles of Trumpers because you're going to have to apply a bunch anyway. And a pocket sized atomizer might be a good thing to carry around if you want the scent to last throughout the day. Another barber shop style fragrance that lasts a long time is YSL Rive Gauche for Men. Great price, top notch scent, but as with every cologne/edt/perfume you must test. Blind buying anything often results in disappointment.

i liked spanish leather from trufitt but if price is an issue i'd imagine i'd be very happy with taylor.

eucris interests me from trumper.

from taylor i know mr. taylor gets a lot of good reviews but there's another more barbershoppy one i'm interested to try.

Word, I have some Astor by GFT, and it has terrible longevity and sillage. Rive Gauche is kind of an updated riff on the same themes and has much better longevity/sillage and is probably cheaper to boot.

I have cologne from Taylor and Trumper and an aftershave from Truefitt. The longevity on the Taylor (St. James) is very short--two hours at most--while Trumper and T&H last much longer. YMMV/I don't know if that's even necessarily indicative of quality.

I have some Truefitt colognes, and, while nice, they last about seven seconds on my body before dissipating.
