It looked promising until I tried it out with the thick original laces. You were right about the bottom knot. It was too noticeable through the leather and rather uncomfortable. Tried it again with thinner laces and the results were about the same. I just couldn't get pass that bottom knot. Maybe if the leather was thicker I could deal with it but my Pennines are already very soft. Overall, the Lock laces still were less of a hassle for me.

I have now cut the Lock Laces to size. I thread the end through the loop on the back of the boot and tie. It looks neat. All I need to do now is send off to eBay for some additional locking mechanisms for the spare ends.

I have been looking all the offers in my size - 6 UK - at the Cheaney’s sale. A pair that got my attention is a model of boots that seems to be woman’s sizing...

I assume that the width would be somehow narrower, that might not be a problem as my feet are relatively narrow and with a low instep. If I get a 6 or 6.5 UK, would it be noticeably different from the men’s model? Are there other differences?

UK shoe sizes are the same for men and women but the latter will run a lot narrower.

My wife haa a uk 7 Cheaney and it appears slimmer but she takes a generic size seven in sneakers (can’t believe I said that as a Brit...).

Thank you, ?

I would like to know how much narrower is “D” related to “F” fitting in Cheaney. Certain models seems to be exactly the same except their width (and price).

Why did you recolour them? The colour on the Cheaney site - Dark Leaf Calf - looks fine.
Long story. I'll try to keep it short.
I had it with the original color for about a year. Then my boy spilled paint on it while doing the ceiling.
After cleaning it up with acetone, the original color was done for. It became very dull and light. After sobbing in the shower listening to 'The crying game' , I decided to make a project out of it. The result is what you see.
I've had many compliments from buddies but I'm just thankful it worked out and I can wear them again.
Cheers!

Nice boots, I got them in waxy tundra suede. Could do with pull loops to the rear I think.
Could you please upload some photos of your boots?

I am considering the same tundra suede boots but I haven’t seen them on feet, only the manufacturer’s images.

More of a shoe care question, but since this is about Cheaney's Dark Leaf, i thought i'd ask here.

I bought a pair of Avon R and the medaillon parts of the toes are burnished (as with virtually all Dark Leaf versions). The leather is extremely dry. I would like to use some Famaco Geele Deliacate on them but i'm don't nknow if it might damage the burnishing. Have you guys conditioned Dark Leaf coloured shoes with or without ill effects?
