I just wanted to add that I now got the tie and it is very nice.

However, at a total of USD 195.00 this turned out to be an expensive buying experience.

USD 120.00 for the tie
USD 25.00 for shipping and handling
USD 50.00 customs fees
------------------
USD 195.00 total

custom fees are a hassle, but they're the importer's problem. one of the reasons i generally avoid buying things across borders.

You could try to have the seller remove all price tags and the invoice and mark the package as a "gift".

And, if the tags are important, ship them to you in a letter.

YES, YES, AND YES! One of the few instances where USPS comes out ahead.
