Everyone says that shortening sleeves with working buttons is impractical, but do they specifically mean surgeon's cuffs? I have a bunch of jackets with sleeves that need shortening with functional buttons, but they aren't arranged in typical fashion. I've taken a photo of one to demonstrate what I mean.

Can these sleeves be shortened without a problem?
And I have another jacket where the buttons are arranged exactly like this, but they rest on an actual cuff. I figure the tailor could just remove the cuff entirely and just re-attach it to the shortened sleeve without even needing to touch the buttons?
