This is a whole lot of rubbish. Most "office-type" jobs have you indoors 10 hours a day. Even for lunch you wouldn't go farther than a financial district watering hole.

The only difference is if you have to walk or cycle 10k to work, which I assume is not the case here.

I made the mistake of wearing a shiny beige/tan-silk blend to work one day. When people started coming up to me to touch the fabric, I realized the mistake I made. But then I worked there for almost eight years.

The question to ask yourself, when pondering whether to wear an ivory suit in an office environment, is whether you are as suave, or suaver, than Jack Nicholson in Chinatown. If the answer is "no," then don't do it.

I have a stone coloured cotton two piece which I wear occasionally instead of a normal suit. Im always overdressed, but then I am in a very business casual environment (Houston) in the South.

I also have a navy blazer suit which is very similar (both Carolina Herrera) and you can soften them by swapping the blazers between them quite easily.

In your case your in a formal business environment, and so I wouldnt go for the Southern Gentleman, or Miami Vice look.

Ivory suit? Hmmm... My new cult needs a uniform.

ETA: The more I think about it the more it would work. I wear a white suit to symbolize my purity, my closest followers ivory....by Soultan the Watcher and Enilghtener of the Astral Beings, I think it will work.
