Can I wear a linen suit to a summer wedding's evening reception dinner?

I'm attending a wedding at the end of the month. At the wedding ceremony everyone would be wearing national costumes. The groom's family will wear the Philippine national costume and the bride's family will be in the Indian clothes (Sari's and the like). The reception would be held in the late afternoon and would probably extend quite late into the evening. My question is, WOULD IT BE APPROPRIATE TO WEAR A NATURAL (cream) COLORED LINEN SUIT? Here are links to suits with the same color as mine: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ZXXQ8saJL.jpg http://suitstoboot.co.uk/spcart/spca...640x480%5D.jpg

Ask the bride.

Seriously.

If you're not comfortable asking her, don't attend, just send a gift.

I don't see why a linen suit wouldn't be appropriate for a reception.

Were there attire recommendations on the invitation?

Linen isn't an issue. The colour might be. How light is that suit?

So you're socially obliged to attend the wedding.

Who are you worried about offending by wearing a linen suit? The approval of strangers on the the internet will be cold comfort if the bride/groom/parents/family/etc. thinks it is inappropriate. So you should ask them, not us.

The first question is:
where is the reception being held?
You may find the answer to your question there.

Unless the invitation is marked 'black tie' then yes.
