Don't have the budget or time for a custom suit, but would like to get something Italian for my Rome elopement. Something relatively casual and linen, need some recommends on where to find ready to wear with tailoring service. Budget is 1000 euros and have 1 week in the city before the wedding.

I can’t recommend any particular shop as my tailor in Rome is only su misura. There are menswear shops all around Spagna and particularly along via Condotti, but those are the luxury brands and most will charge more than 1000 for a suit, factoring in mods and 22 percent VAT. (Non-EU citizens can get the VAT refunded when they leave the country although technically not if it’s been worn; be careful with the red wine.)

Then again, business is hurting and bargains could abound. July is sales month as well. There are cheaper clothing shops along via Nazionale near Termini Station, and along the streets leading into Campo de Fiori.

It’s risky to assume you’ll find exactly what you like, and get it modified, in time for your wedding. But it could be a fun adventure. I would bring backup attire.
