What brands do you guys recommend for classic, basic appearing dress belts for a semi-conservative environment?

Allen Edmonds?
Coach?
Tumi?

I'm addicted to Dunhill belts and highly recommend them. Quality is first class, although I don't pay full retail for them.

I really like the Martin Dingman Smith. Comes w/ two buckles, one brass, one silver. Made in the US of full grain leather.

Trafalgar - I own 2, decent quality & price
M Dingman - get good reviews here, I've seen them at NMLC and they look much better than the generic ones like Penguin, B Sherman, etc at least equal to Trafalgar
JW Cooper - definitely my next strap, buckles are crazy expensive but straps are pretty reasonable

I like Dunhill, Mont Blanc, and Cartier as well but can't speak to personal experience other than looking at them. I wouldn't rule out Gucci either if you can find their plain belts/buckles.

Some of it depends on how much you want to spend...

I typically turn to the better makers of shoes. In the U.S. you might try Alden.

J Crew has a nice MIE belt on sale for $40.
You can get them for a little more than $25 when they have the 30% off sale.

+1 on Gucci. Pretty much all I've owned and for the beating i give my everyday belts Gucci's more than hold up to the demands. If you go this route just make sure not to go for the overly flashy versions unless you seek that sort of attention.
