After years of ignoring anything coming out of Woodford Reserve, the wasteland that is the Texas bourbon market forced me to diversify. After trying a Total Wine store pick of a Woodford Double Oaked, I was actually pleasantly surprised in that it was delicious from the first sip. Since bought another of a plain old Woodford store pick (this one from Spec's) and man, I'd been missing out. Anyone else have a revelation like this from a whiskey they always swore they'd never try?

Still not a fran of anything Maker's Mark though.

Four Roses Small Batch Select. Just meh. I remember liking this in year's past, but yeah, just middle of the road to me right now. Saw a 15 year old Calumet that I passed on when the whiskey guy at Spec's told me it was overpriced by $30 to $40. Anyone ever have this?

Haha, got a call from the local shop and I won a chance at an allocated bourbon. Stagg jr incoming!

So they have a lottery and the prize is, you get to enter the lottery? Reminds me of Seinfeld's waiting room to the smaller waiting room bit lol. Good luck anyways!

No, prize was a choice of limited allocation bottles. He went through the list and most was just meh until he ended with Larceny barrel proof which I was interested in, and then Stagg jr. Purchased for $60.

Better! Good for you, enjoy the Stagg Junior.
