Found a bottle of Sam Houston 15 at Total Wine in Pearland like 4 weeks ago. There’s a Specs in Clear Lake that typically has a decent selection on the shelf too. I found a bottle of the Makers Mark SE4 on shelf when it first came out. They regularly stock John J. Bowman as well (not too bad imo). It's allocation season. Anyone have any good news on finding any of the usual suspects? I've basically given up in Texas. Nothing ever seems to make its way here, and the loyalty programs at Spec's seem good only to increase the amount of spam I get about the latest release of Dwayne Johnson's Teremana tequila or yet another bullshit vanity bourbon from some random musician whose music sucks so I don't expect different from the whiskey they put their name on.

I kept wondering, why so many of these stupid actor/celebrity liquors? Surely the people financing these endeavors could find better uses of their money. Then I read that Teremana moved close to 400k cases it’s first year. And Clooney’s group sold Casa Amigos for $1bln to Diageo (and they were only selling 175k cases a year, imagine how much Teremana is worth!!). So I guess it’s basically a license to print money if you back a celebrity Tequila endeavor. Also, the Bob Dylan bourbon supposedly sells like gang busters.
I called Specs in Clear Lake last week looking for Nulu and was told they had 4 bottles in stock. I went to the store looking on the shelf and asked where it was and they were holding them in the back. I was kinda confused?I actually don't dislike either the Casa Amigos or Teremana tequilas at all. In fact, the Casa Amigos blanco is my staple tequila when I want a sipper in summer. I am really just ranting at the complete and utter lack of benefit at all from loyalty to Spec's (I am a Black member, which is the highest tier loyalty, and promises early in-store access to allocated releases) which appears to have no real benefit at all.

that stuff is crazy - has like 3x the usual caffeineView attachment 1678250
I pick this up every now and then from my favorite brewer that roasts.
Just the smell when your grinding this stuff is worth the price of admission...
I've never noticed any extra kick, but maybe that's because I always glug a decent amount of Irish cream into it.that stuff is crazy - has like 3x the usual caffeine
