I like them a lot, and I've been looking for something (anything really) to replace a pair of Alden Indy boots that I truly despise.
Can you elaborate on why said Alden's are so maligned? I've no experience wearing Alden. Are you suggesting Alden should be avoided altogether, just the Indy boot model, or that your particular pair of Indy boots are the problem?

I was surprised by that comment too. My guess was that if he's looking at Carmina he was wanting a sleeker shoe than the true balance last. I'd be interested why the Indy boot doesn't work as well.

Well, we'll both await the man's own response!

I'm a round toe English shoe man and not really one for sleek lasts but I've seen shoeboxes with more shape than the Trubalance.

I bought a pair of Indys probably 2-3 years ago before I knew much about shoes and have never been able to make them work. The general shapelessness of the last combined with the moc-toe stitching and natural welt all combine to form a very unattractive shoe in my opinion. They weigh a ton also. Great shoes, very well made but just not my cup of tea.

Thanks for clarifying.
