Boot digging into ankle around heel counter area

Bought some 2nd hand parkhurst Allens, but when I wear them, they crease in a way that the area around the heel counter creases inwards and digs into the side of my foot. When I took them off, there was a little bleeding on both feet right at that one point of friction.

Anyone know how to fix this, or if I have to resell them?

This area folding inward seems like the issue?

Probably the only fix is to wear the boots until the leather softens. You can wear very thick socks or put some other makeshift padding/barrier between the crease and your foot.

I have a pair of AE Park Ave's that creased very painfully into my toe joint and made me limp when they were new. I stuck a piece of stiff cardboard into my shoe where the crease was digging, and that helped. They eventually broke in and I'm wearing them right now. I'm not sure if you have that level of dedication to this pair of boots -- at my age (pushing 40) I'm not going to limp or bleed for the sake of wearing nice shoes anymore. They go to the thrift store.

Hmmm these are fairly softened already as they’re second hand. I will likely try to resell them because I don’t think its worth the pain of breaking in
