You people are off your collective rockers if you think many, if not most of the labels you covet, regardless of country of manufacture, don't attempt to constantly lower/maintain the lowest possible costs of production.

Uh yes we are aware they are trying to make a profit if that's what you're asking.

I just ordered a pair of these brown Alden boots from Alden of Carmel - $425.00 - made in Massachusetts.

The is a big difference between the cost of a goods sold (direct materials, labor and overhead) and end profit (admin, marketing and other expenses). A pair of jeans may have a goods cost of 12 dollars and a total cost of 50 dollars. You can never look at goods cost alone, or you would see these companies making 500% profits.

The link on ebay that directs you to the Context website is the wrong one.

These boots are not the boiled wool or nylon ones they have at Context.
As the above post mentioned, it's cheaper leather boots.

But for $10 starting bid, I am tempted to buy them.
I just really really hate that stupid "Made in China" print that is so visible on the tongue of the shoe.

what's the general consensus on wearing these boat boots with the jeans/pants tucked in? yes or no?

personally i think it looks good if the tuck is not overly tidy. my wife doesn't want me to tuck because she actually thinks it looks too thuggish. but then again she is clad in gucci/cavalli/prada head to toe...
