Jesus guys, get a life. Bond is a fictional character who wears whatever the producers want him to.

This is determined by who offers the best free clothes deal.

I am unable to understand why forum members seen to place so much emphasis on what this fictional character wears?

Shall I say it and suggets that an
awful lot of what 'Bond' has worn over the years is dross?

Bond is a fictional character, glad we cleared that up

Mr. Young with Mr. Sinclair provided some nice classical inspirations. I see nothing wrong from mirroring something you like whether from a movie, a picture, a person, the Duke of Windsor, etc. etc.

I agree, Bond has worn some pretty scary stuff from blue fuzzy jumpers, to short shorts, and some funky safari with tie get ups.

I also like that of the NorthbyNorthwest look fictional and all

I can think of alot worse movies, people etc. to get clothing inspirations from.

James Bond has been created to boost the British males ego of post-war Britain....
The country was in ruins, the economy in tatters and the crown of the mighty British Empire was starting to crumble down in India,Palestine,Africa...
Britain was still with rations and starting to lose its empire and the British male was in need of a mythical alpha male, feared by everyone around the globe...
Rule Britannia!!!!!!!!!!!Britain was in need of powerful symbols such as James Bond, the mythical warrior and lover.....
Quite a Rennaissance man if you think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!

It 's quite funny that Casino Royal action was actually in the south of post-war France.......
Post -war France was a very fragmented country with a powerful communist party running the south in particular.........
The modern version is in the Balkans....

I don't think an intelligent person can deny Bond is a style icon, whether or not you like the style is of course a personal preference-- and there have been so many actors, it has evolved a lot over time, too. Yet there have been countless articles (a simple google search will show some of the effect of this character's style on menswear) and at least a few books on the subject (i.e. Brioni, and Bond: the suited hero).

Myself, I think when I see something in a film that I'd like to purchase, I try to find out what clothier made it. True, I like the idea of Bond and have since I was a kid, but-- where else to look for style ideas? ******* GQ/ Esquire, where they show the crap from runways or shortie suits from Thom Browne? not me.

Look around you and you will create your own style based on your creativity and sensibility.....
You can have look at magazines or runways pictures to broaden your fashion horizons but only as inspiration..........
We 're polymorph anyway and do not forget that your dress sense will evolve with you...........

I'd agree the event I plan on attending, the weather, my build, my complexion, etc. play more into what I wear than any cinematic inspiration. But there's nothing wrong with picking up an idea or two from a movie.

Being quite dark , i used to always indulge in the classy ganster look, not the Scarface type.....
Now ,i do prefer a well-tailored dark suit with a lovely open shirt....

Such comments are a matter of opinion and relative to your personal perception. No one is forcing you to read this thread, or to agree with the contents herein. That being said, if you don't like that there are those here who enjoy the outfits Bond wears, and may or may not be so inclined to use them as inspiration to create their own style, then I fail to see what your purpose is here. The same could be said about the Ocean movies, Wall Street, 1960's Michael Caine films, etc.

Consumerism ,love it or loathe it ,that's the debate!!!!!!
I do personally not like the Bond movies because i do prefer more realistic characters but i do enjoy the sartorial elegance of 007....
James Bond is a caricature,a myth....
Where Nonk does have a point ,Fleming has created James Bond with a certain British mystic and certain sartorial exigences which are maybe not fully respected today ....
For example ,Aston Martin being replaced by BMW and others ,Ted Baker having a few shirts,Brioni coming in and so on...
What next? Bond driving a Skoda because the brand will have given the best offer...
James bond is becoming a bilboard ,an endorsement machine and that's a bit sad. but that is the case for David beckham ,Tiger Woods ,Tom Cruise and others....
I do love watching Turnbull &Asser,Omega,Dupont and Lobb being on James Bond sets but i do think it 'is a bit sad to label them solely as Bond's shoes or watch....
