Pay close attention--especially those in or around NYC....

Word continues to spread about the provocative new fragrance by Bond no. 9 called Fire Island. Fire Island continues in the tradition of the up and coming hot fragrance line Bond no.9. For those not in the know, (as was I but a few months ago,) Bond no. 9 is absolutely taking the New York city fragrance market by storm with their classic neighborhood inspired scents that are rapidly becoming must-have for the quintessential trendy New Yorker. From Central Park and Riverside Drive, to Wall Street, New Harlem and Nuits de Noho, Bond no. 9 has a fragrance inspired by every neighborhood on the effervescent isle of Manhattan sure to reflect each and everyone's individual sense of style.

The Bond no. 9 family continues to grow along with its burgeoning reputation as thetrendsetter of New York fragrance. In fact, Bond is about to expand its line in a big way withits newest fragrance release called Fire Island.

The company is hosting a huge party to launch the release of Fire Island, on where else, but Fire Island. The anticipated release has already piqued the interest of television and newspaper producers/editors, and has grown
to such a din among New York's fashion elites that Bond has contracted the highly valued services of media mavens at Pierce Mattie Public Relations to help plan their highly vaunted new launch. The collaborative effort seems to be rollingnow on all fronts, as the party is set to go off Agusut 5th at Fire Island from 3pm-6pm. The company has extended an open invitation to everyone who wishes to take part in the special launch, and I for one can not wait.

Bond No. 9 scents are fairly nice, but I wouldn't say that they're taking the New York fragrance market by storm... they are quality scents but significantly overpriced and haven't come close to breaking Creed's hegemony over the high end fragrance market, Saks' efforts nonwithstanding. That said, Central Park is one of my favorite scents.

That attitude seems fairly common, and it strikes me as rather incongruous. You wouldn't think a grown man pitching scented oils would adopt a patronizing attitude...

So the media mavens at Pierce Mattie Public Relations could think of no better advertising campaign than spamming message boards? The wrong ones, apparently, as I haven't seen a similar post today on Basenotes.

This isn't spam, nor is it work on behalf of either Bond or their PR company. Since this is a forum of open discussion, I find nothing wrong with what I posted, which happens to be cut directly from press releases, and I dont the language is that outrageous anyway. For those who might be interested, all proceeds of the launch go directly to the Fire Island National Seashore Restoration Fund-- a most deserving charity. People forget that Fire Island is more than simply a weekend tourist getaway, and I think its great that Bond has decided to share the wealth and help an environmental cause. Just trying to spread some information, as many on this site do for that matter.

I do apologize though if some people thought it came off as too markety, and Ill keep that in mind for the future. However, Im surprised how caustic and accusatory people can get, especially when many frequently use this forum for their own personal causes.

When you have one post, and it's one discussing the launch of a new product, what do you expect people to think? Personally I like Bond No.9 stuff, I just thought the situation was rather amusing, really.

So, what's the guest-list for this Fire Island party like?

Ideally, it would be Truman Capote, Anthony Haden-Guest, Gore Vidal, Halston, Liza Minelli, Sir Hardy Amies, Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Margaret, Roy Cohn, Mae West, and some others.

I read George Michael was recently photographed having a Hampstead Heath release party.
