Black patterned tie too formal?

I was wondering if a patterned black tie (similar to the pictured) worn with a charcoal or medium gray suit and white shirt would be too formal to wear to work, which is a professional suit and tie setting.

Generally, obviously noticable patterns attract attention because there are additional things to be looked at. With a light-grey suit, that tie would look pretty neat in a professional work environment.

It’s a Brioni tie and I got a great deal for it. It should looks sharp with my medium gray or charcoal suits. Thanks for the input!
