I owned some detached collar shirts in my brief Edwardian period.
Problem was that no laundry near me in Chicago at the time knew
how to launder them. Nor would it be fitting for an Edwardian gentleman
wanabe (me) to distract himself from his dilettantish pursuits to iron
shirts. So I switched to the cheaper Jermyn St offerings like Thomas Pink
and moved up to T &A and H&K ( on sale)

I should think, but I may be wrong, that this is a picture from the 70s. Giscard was president between 1974 and 1981. Of course, Savile Row's products are timeless...

Of the three men in the Brexit picture, is is Barnier who looks, by far, the best-dressed. To think that British men were once thought to be the most elegant (think MacMillan or Anthony Eden...). Sic transit...

Boris is hardly an example of the old British style though, being a preposterous bounder but two generations removed from an Ottoman clerk. There are certainly better modern dressers.

Ali might have been better dressed, but not so much as to excuse Boris' pretensions of being a country gentleman or some such. He's not badly dressed because of his background, but because he's desperately trying to be someone else and overdoing it.
