The man in these photos is Rafael Trujillo , dictator of the Dominican Republic from 1930 - 1961 . George Frazier wrote
in The Art of Wearing Clothes 1960 ""As for Trujillo, his taste in clothes is apparently as undiscriminating as it is in certain other matters. He once commissioned a New York tailor to make him — sight unseen! — fourteen suits at $285 each, four sports jackets at $196 apiece, ten sports shirts at from $20 to $30 each, twenty-five $33 dress shirts, fifty $7.50 neckties, and four pairs of slacks at $88 a pair." Although I am not sure if he is referring to Ramfis , his son.

designated successor. One of the survivors, General Antonio Imbert later served
