I am heartbroken beyond words. I guess it's a worthy sentiment, but the phrasing distresses me.

Hope and change also doesn't necessitate driving the car you want, or keeping the thermostat at a level that's comfortable for you, or even eating when you want to.

Barack Obama said:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,"
I feel more hopeful already!

So nice to hear an American politician saying this...though I'm sure he'll end up with the usual beating that is punishment for any Carter-like utterances. Visiting some friends' in the States, I get the sense that they are completely unaware that many in the rest of the world loath the specific habits that Obama mentions. He should have told them to only buy second-suits or eco-friendly suits. That would have been a more hopeful message.

i think he's just feeding the middle and low income what they want to hear, about how the riches of the world are evil and all that bullshit.

did he serve in the peace corps? wonder what he makes as a senator?

Hmm, do you think he lives in a big house? Burberry isnt exactly a trashy suit BTW.

college kids probably eat this up, they're fearing working for "the man" right now.

Does he wear off the rack?

I'm sure Mr. Despos could change that for him.

Or maybe Manton knows a good tailor in...

This whole post is bullshit.
1. It has nothing to do with middle/low class, he is saying to help others instead of chasing after money. Is that so hard to understand? There is no talk of evil riches.

2. His house/wealth is irrelevant. irrelevant. He could be a drug dealer selling coke to other senators while ******* lara bush on the side. If a republican then is found sniffing coke with a hooker, and Obama says it's a horrible thing, he would still be right. It would make him a hypocrite, but he is still right. The person making the comment does not reflect the validity of a statement. In this case, Obama has to have a senator's salary to make a change in the world, so I see no problem.

3. The college part is silly. This isn't the 60/70's. Apperently, you haven't heard of business school.

Obama apparently either shops at Brooks Brothers or Barneys according to this thread from Ask Andy. http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/f...ad.php?t=79846 Either way his look is very neat and classic to my eye.

] P.S. Obama wasn't actually making very much money before his books started selling well after the 2004 speech. And working as a community organizer after attending Columbia and earning a Harvard Law degree makes him an excellent example of what he recommended for the graduates.
