Many years ago I went to Townsville to speak at a national conference. I took great care to dress down appropriately and for climate. I got myself from airport to venue - many hundreds arriving there - I was singled out at door from many::

" Hello fxh welcome to Townsville"

Me:: "How did you know who I was"?

"You're dressed like you're from Melbourne"

A visit to Townsville is due for me sometime later in the year. We're doing some pro bono human rights work for the residents of Palm Island.

Dude, learn how to talk selfies if you're going to post your 'outfit'.

Also, save some for your twitter/facebook status updates.

Great colour combi, mate.

Hey Jase, do you have any photos of yourself in the purple knit? Trying to gauge the colour.

Was thinking of asking Romp directly, but it's probably worth having the discussion publicly for other people to weigh in.

How does SuitShop compare with P Johnson? I'm keen to know what the differences are; not so much in price but the differences in fabric choice, construction and details. I've been relying on Patrick almost exclusively and I've been very happy with my last few suits (not withstanding a few details, but really just minor quibbles) but the last few times I've been in I've been dealing with Remy anyway and I haven't seen Patrick for a while.

I'm very happy with P Johnson and budget permitting, I'm keen to stick with them for suits, but I would like to experiment with a few odd jackets and it would be great if someone has tried both can give us a perspective on the main differences.

Nice call on Brunswick, really good pub there too, plenty of live music and squires on tap!
Ernesto knock yourself out, options to be had!

I hate to take a dump on my own ideas but be very careful if swimming at Brunswick you have a semi-permanent rip the runs next to the south breakwall that’s taken a surprising number of lives (!) Normal rip advice applies swim with the sweep across the rip and when your well away from it swim in.

Or just swim 200m down the beach.

Ah I'm caught between an off the rack and a hard place...the MJbale suits arrived and I am quite happy with them but:
:
* the size 38 fits great in all areas except the chest bows a bit when the jacket is buttoned up.  Is that fixable by a tailor you think? it feels like theres about 1cm of extra fabric along the back centre seam to potentially work with

* the size 40 doesn't bow but I get mad collar gap (in theory this should exist on the size 38 but I didnt notice it) and in short even assuming thats fixable, between it and the other alterations required from the bigger size (across 2 suits it would be) I feel id be getting to the point where I possibly should have considered 2 MTM suits instead.

Maybe I will just have to take them to the tailor for an opinion but any thoughts from you guys would be greatly appreciated..

Ask the tailor about the 38, but otherwise forget about it.

Funny you should mention this. I got caught in that exact rip once, going back several decades when I was a teenager and a strong swimmer.

My memory is that I swam across the rip to some boulders that were piled up to form the south breakwall. I wasn't far away from the breakwall at the time, but it took all the strength in my body to get to those rocks. They were covered in limpets or some such, and I tore myself up a bit clambering out, but this was far preferable to the alternative.

Now, I may be wrong about this - it might have been Lennox Head or Evans Head, but I'm pretty sure it was Brunswick.

I've never forgotten that day. Scared the crap out of me.

Foxhound - I mean this very politely - I think you should take these kind of posts to SW&D. I have always thought there was a need for an Australian Member's SWD thread, and perhaps you are the right person to start it.

Lachyzee, I politely disagree...it is hard enough keeping up with one Aus thread. I, and hopefully others, like a range styles, as long as it is in the context of living in Australia. Also, pretty sure most of these items would fall under MC -

Vintage RayBan's from the 80s
John Smedley Bobby
Burberry OCBD
Drakes Tie
Epaulet Duck Chinos
Loake Wentworths.

Can't we all just be friends....well, everyone except that Gerry Nelson guy, who does he think he is, am I right?

Fox - I _think_ everything looks good, but it's difficult to guage. I, for one, find it incredibly difficult to photograph myself in a way that's realistic (in fact if you look back you can see how bad most of my selfies are).

(I actually think this fit is appropriate for MC, since it's MC Casual, not SWD, but SWD is much more fluid, relaxed and non-conformist, though much less accepting)

Fair enough, I was referring more to the previous selfie, really, which featured skinny jeans :satisfied:
