Hi

I need advice please, I only joined this great community a few days ago. I have a professional photographer appointment that work had organised for professional pictures to be taken to be used on the company main website.

I would like to ask what shirt colour/pattern and tie combination I should be wearing.

Sadly I only have black suits, so have a pinstripe black suit that I will have to wear since I have nothing else yet. I didnt know navy is the work colour followed by charcoal.

anyway any help picking out a shirt colour and tie is appreciated.

Thanks

Light blue tends to be used on TV as white can appear too harsh under lighting. It depends on how diffuse/good the photographer's lighting is. But as you have a black suit, I find a soft pink shirt and burgundy tie always looks good - although some might find this too dandy for professional applications.

Ah I'm caught between an off the rack and a hard place...the MJbale suits arrived and I am quite happy with them but:
:
* the size 38 fits great in all areas except the chest bows a bit when the jacket is buttoned up. Is that fixable by a tailor you think? it feels like theres about 1cm of extra fabric along the back centre seam to potentially work with

* the size 40 doesn't bow but I get mad collar gap (in theory this should exist on the size 38 but I didnt notice it) and in short even assuming thats fixable, between it and the other alterations required from the bigger size (across 2 suits it would be) I feel id be getting to the point where I possibly should have considered 2 MTM suits instead.

Maybe I will just have to take them to the tailor for an opinion but any thoughts from you guys would be greatly appreciated..

JM and DB stole the rest of my thunder but a few more comments

As I've always had a car I kinda forgot about that. I strongly suggest getting a car to go there. I like stopping at tropical fruit world too. I'll give a shoutout to Brunswick while I'm here too.

I feel like tropical fruit world is something I must now see.

Nice call on Brunswick, really good pub there too, plenty of live music and squires on tap!
Ernesto knock yourself out, options to be had!

Thanks guys. A great response, much appreciated.

Gerry, you could probably wear an actual sock around your neck and still look a million bucks.

I think that it would have to be a woollen stocking or legging rather than a sock, otherwise it wouldn't have sufficient length!

The Mens shop have a few suits on sale, is there any quality item that is worth purchasing. Prices seem reasonable, I am after business suits (navy and charcoal).

I couldn't find any information on this operation on SF, but being the observant chap I am I noticed one of their cars in the conservative business dress this morning and looked them up.

Prices seem quite reasonable, and they seem to have a decent selection of fabrics as well (Dormeuil, H&S). Also claim to be made in Australia.

Looks like a similar set up to Suit Shop, no shop front, will measure you in your office etc.

Any lurkers out here ever used them or have any feedback to share? I must admit I've never pinned Tangles Walker as a style icon, but Steel & May look like they have been around for a while so they must have more than a few happy clients.

Testimonials from Max Walker and Tom Williams? Is that supposed to fill me with confidence?
