The Ms is sitting in front of TV watching Richmond vs Geelong, yelling & swearing, drinking and eating chips etc.
Me: I'm in the office having a quiet James Squire Stowaway IPA, listening to ABC Jazz on digital radio, Yamaha NS10 - white cone vintage speakers, and reading the Productivity Commission Report on NDIS.
I can't stand sport.
Its a funny old world isn't it.
iSurg, I'm interested in what made Macau the best day trip ever for you. I was there for a week in January. Some interesting Portuguese/Asian fusion culture and architecture on the Peninsula. Massive Casino/Mall/Hotel complexes on the Island. Good gold prices. Cheap and impressive Chinese mainland food. On the other hand, appalling air quality, a pervasive gambling and shopping culture, and a decrepit city area outside the World Heritage and Casino precincts. I found it in parts interesting, challenging and depressing. Much like most cities (or SARs) I suppose, but I found HK a far more stimulating experience.
To be fair I'm doing much the same
Giant Steps 1st pressing (mono) Needle Drop
Stax Sr007 (Electrostatic "earspeakers")
Kriek de Ranke
and some coding

You've got most of my reasons on your list there. Mainly the architecture - cobblestone roads, the churches, etc. Best egg tarts I have ever tasted, and I've been eating those from childhood. Pretty amazing casinos and over the top extravagance. Our HK friends took us around, so it wasn't depressing for me at all. HK is mainly food, menswear, shopping malls and the Peak (shows you what I know). Don't think the air quality is any different, to be honest.
It would be like visiting LA and skipping Vegas. That's just my opinion. I loved it. I guess you stayed for a week and maybe that was too long. I went for <24 hours, and it was a quick immersion. Hence me calling it the best HK day trip.

You're a classy man Plestor!
How do you like the 007s? I've moved away from headphones as I have some nice floorstanders these days, but I've always enjoyed the Stax. Used to own some Audeze LCD-2s. Tempted to buy the LCD-3s at some point...
Recently an opportunity emerged to join linkedIN as an account analyst so it will involve client administration, data insights, making presentations, sales support etc. It probably on the sales side of the business. This is for one of linkedIN's Asia Pacific Offices so it's still a relatively new and rapidly growing office here.
Currently working as an analyst in an asset finance division of an investment bank in the area of risk. Graduated with a economics degree and worked here for 24 months now, and have done very well in my current role, working overseas in Australia and the US. Tech and startups are something that I had a taste of when working with such clients in SF. I think it could be a very intriguing and exciting area to be in.
I am relatively young in my career (economics & accounting degree) and I don't have any particular end goals regarding my career direction. Financially, the remuneration is fairly comparable. Do you think this is a good move in terms of experience, career path. Pros and cons?
(one con is that i can't wear my suits anymore because of the tech environment!)
