Still not convoinced. Tweed might be unfinished, but it doesn't have to be that rough. Example from Bookster:

If you don't thing the OP's coat is tweed, what would you call it?

Picking out buttons for a slightly lighter than navy suit. One of the options I have is some cream colored horn buttons. For a blazer I think that might look ok, but I am apprehensive about lighter buttons on a suit. What is proper etiquette for suit button color? Always matching in tone or darker?

I'll be posting light gray blazer soon to see if I can mix and match my way into wedding attire. In the mean-time, if I had to settle with a black suit for a spring wedding, what kind of shirt/tie combination could I use to brighten it up and still look sharp?

Anyone? There doesn't seem to be a lot of opinions on this elsewhere online.

Awesome, Thanks Anyone know where to get quality belts, socks and the other smaller details of a man's wardrobe? As far as my budget, it's not huge - but I want to know what to look for in a good leather belt - more the quality of the leather, any common mistakes made when buying a belt - examples of a hiearchy of dress belt makers... And as far as socks are concerned... I really just don't know where to get decent, quality over the calf dress socks.... because I only have one pair of ones i picked up at Johnson & Murphy...nothing spectacular, but $18 a pair is just too much for socks I wear every day on this budget.

I was thinking about the same thing last night. Went with the standard canvas because the sole looks odd on the linen version. It seems to come up much higher and makes the shoe look clumsy. Haven't seen them in real life, though.

PS Superga.com is having a 30% off sale + 20% if you buy two pairs.

I'm looking for slim-cut cotton trousers, solid and pinstripes, anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know whether his particular coat is tweed or not, but if it isn't then it's just a worsted wool.

Regarding socks, Gold Toe are a great choice for inexpensive but sturdy dress socks. They're often available for 3 x $18 or less.
