I can't seem to find one we have at home and I think it's gone for good. How does netflix handle "lost" movies? Do they charge me retail? Do they give me a "pass" for the first one? etc...

claim you never received it, they'll send it out again. worked for me (although in my case, i really didn't receive it). i think if you don't do it too often they allow for the occasional lost mailing.

Well, I've had it for a month, so I'm not gonna say that. Does anyone know how much they would charge for a lost DVD?

Pretty sure nothing happens if you report one lost--I believe if you report them lost consistently, they lock your account, but even in those cases I think you can talk them through it. I actually put one in the mail that they never received--I reported it lost and never heard a word from them--they jsut sent the next DVD.

Yeah, we're talking about a consumable medium here - those things get scratched up and disposed of pretty quick - and burning them costs a dollar. You can untwist.

They won't charge you anything. I've had 7-8 lost over the years and they don't care. You just mark it as lost when being shipped back to them.

ummm... Better yet, just shoplift one from walmart and sent that back. Some of these suggestions are tantamount to the same.

Just tell them you LOST the damn thing and its your fault
at worst they will charge you retail but I doubt even that.

I have had DVDs not delivered or broken or lost on return, and Netflix has never done anything other than send another copy. They really just want to keep tabs on those abusing the system, which you are not doing.

I once had a roommate who mentioned losing two NetFlix DVDs. A couple days later, he was gone and I never saw him again.

I told them I lost it. (imagine that? Honesty!). They charged me about $15 bucks for it. I could have claimed I sent it back, but... I didn't. I lost it. So I told the truth. It didn't hurt a bit. YMMV.

Um.... yes, you are, if you told them that you mailed back a movie that you never did. The more people do that, the more they will either clamp down or raise costs for everyone else.
