Hey, all the better for your wallet.

There are a few bargains I like way too much for the price, Bastille for example even though it isn't a scotch.

J

Agreed, I'm finding that it's often case specific, sometimes the older variety tones down a lot of enjoyable aspects of certain scotches for me.

So, on suggestions a while back, I picked up a bottle of Bunna 18. Damn. Near. Perfection.

I am absolutely in love with it. So incredibly tasty and smooth.

One of my favorites as well, I have the 12, 18 and 25 and love them all.

I just had my first taste of A'bunadh. It very much lived up to its reputation, and the bottle is unlikely to last long.

Long time favorite of mine as well. As hard as it is to keep one on hand, I make an attempt to. I kick myself for not buying a case of it when it was $55/bottle (local to me).

I need to pick up another A'bunadh. Honestly though, let me say it again. Although expensive, the Bunna 18 is phenomenal. Had my second dram tonight. It is really just a very nuanced, creamy scotch. 18 year age statement, but it tastes mature for its age.

That makes me want to pick up a version of its older brother. Before I turn 26, I kind of want to pick up a bottle with the equivalent age statement as myself.

Ironically my wife got me the 25 for my last birthday (29) and it did not disappoint! She knows this year will be expensive (30 for 30!).

At, when you are 29, I am sure that the only thing better than a 25 year old is an 18 year old :slayer:

And the 30 for 30 is a dangerous game. If only you were turning 37, there would be an obvious choice with this year's Diageo releases. I have to say, although it is absurdly, ridiculously expensive. It interests me.

I turned 37 recently and have been eyeing some age-appropriate releases. I'm not yet sure if I'm willing to pony up that much cash, however.

There are some more reasonable independent bottlings of older stuff, but i feel like thats buying something just because its old, rather than buying something that is good.

What's the deal with Port Ellen? I haven't gotten an opinion from anyone I trust.

I don't understand why it's so expensive but then again a ton of the expressions are rated very highly from multiple sources. Along with brora

So Diageo offered me 200 GBP for my Lochnagar 12 from the 1960s. I feel they are totally cheaping out on my, but tbh, i'd rather them send me a bottle my way (a friend of mine found a similar GF dusty and the distillery sent him two really nice bottles (a 175 and another)). Any idea what I might be able to ask Diageo for in exchange for the Lochnagar 12. I'd love an Oban 21 and another cool limited bottle...what are the latest Diageo limited Scotch releases (the person I'm dealing with is in the UK)?
Might be a bit of a stretch, but a Lagavulin 21 would be pretty amazing!

I had a few in Tokyo, one of which absolutely blew me away. So it is capable of being quite lovely a malt indeed. My bottle though, is worth too much to open.

It was the first of the cult closed distilleries, AND its an Islay, and a pretty storied one at that. So that explains it.

The local store is releasing Glenmorangie Ealanta in the next couple of weeks and I was thinking about getting it as I really like the Glenmorangies that I have had. Has anyone tried it yet? Have any comparisons for it? It's $165, would I be better off to just get an 18.

Thanks,
Joel
