Assuming AM would do it, anyone interested in commissioning a wholecut ankle boot (Cataline)? I'm jonesing for a wholecut ankle boot and there's no better maestro than AM himself. Thinking a dark brown or burgundy/oxblood smooth leather (would even go for the aubergine in the link below), maybe a misty or museum leather, but details can be fleshed out in due time. Just gauging interest to see if there'd be enough for a GMTO.

Hi gents,

This work from home thing has made me looking forward to the day I can wear my shoes again. I am thinking of making a pair of AM's Hastatus with slight modifications.

Specifications are as follows:
Model - Hastatus but with added captoe and no broguing i.e. clean seams
Last - Chisel 2 or Soft Square
Construction - AW or HW
Color - Castagna Del Prete or Lontra (see the attached pics) (leaning toward Castagna)

Wondering if any of you would be interested in such a makeup? DM me if you are.

So I got confirmation that AM has agreed to make make a Cataline if we gather enough for a GMTO. Right now we have a total of 4 interested with @bloodyj13 noting any last but chisel or soft square and @Complete Novice having a preference for dark brown. I was leaning towards chisel or soft square lasts but certainly open to others depending on group preferences. I’ll see if I can drum up some more interest. If so, I’ll set up a group chat for the participants.

Hasnt been determined but I believe the Cataline is part of the Aurum line so it would HW. I’ll reach out to AM to confirm, though.

How many people he requested, I think it would be aw like the one for Mediallion

Waiting to hear back on minimum number of participants, pricing, hw vs aw, leather/last limitations, etc. My initial inquiry was to see if he’d even do it since the wholecut ankle boot is unique and not as easy to construct.

Any thought about doing it with broguing at the toe ?

So I heard back from AM today. The Cataline is a bespoke/Aurum model as it is a seamless wholecut boot requiring quite a bit of work. He doesn’t offer it as a GMTO. With that said, he can do the Elios as a GMTO. It’s Argentum HW and would come to 1150 euros with lasted boot trees. It is similar to the Cataline except for the seam at the heel - see Instagram post below. This is the boot for Medallion. We need a minimum of 6 for that pricing.

My preference for the last would be Hawksbill, Soft Square or Chisel 1 because I find they can go either casual or formal;

• the round lasts are nice but very casual
• I have a few pairs in the Chisel 2 last but find the shape is too aggressive

Unfortunately medallion would also be a deal breaker - don't want to derail the GMTO though so perhaps Antonio can offer with / without?

Am curious about the pricing, which is higher than the spiral wholecut Tacticius - is that including tax?
