Thanks gents.
Let's see.....

Seeing that most guys prefer oak, but most also have tostato as second choice.... With none saying that tostato is a deal breaker, with one deal breaker with dark oak.....

Shall we settle for tostato as the final colour? What I can do is ask Antonio to darken it.

@ThunderMarch, that sounds like a good compromise. A darken tostato would work for me.

@ThunderMarch Thank you for your work in pulling everyone together. Curious how much darker could caffe tostato go without being flat? For me, Meccariello's best selling point over other makers is the finishing ("patina" i guess). If it's dark oak, or near-black, it really defeats the purpose of Meccariello for me. If there's enough GMTO members other than me who want dark oak, I'm happy to step out of the GMTO. If everyone else is looking for a near-black shoe, it doesn't do them any good to compromise on a lighter color. I just personally already have too many "versatile" dark shoes between black, brown, navy and oxblood.

Well.
This is what tostato looks like in natural light:

Certainly a dark brown with quite a lot of nuance to it, but not to worry, even if slightly darkened, it most certainly won't be flat.

Dark oak isn't my first choice either. It is honestly far too dark in my opinion.

In terms of numbers, as it is, we are right there provided everyone so far is in. So let's see.

And here I was thinking I was the laborius one ;)

Regarding colour: Castagna del prete would clearly be my first option. Tostato runner up. Dark oak third. Most likely I´m open to follow the majority on this one though.

Medallion: Would prefered 12 but 9 also works for me.

@beargonefishing, @ThunderMarch,

Thanks for the input, and I think you guys are correct. The final product does not give the impression of loudness, nor ostentatious, I feared at first.

Might even tone it down a bit, avoid too much focus on the shoes (you guys know, me living in Europe and everything).

Think I ride along either way, pin grain or not.

Wow the Tostato is stunning. I'd be happy with a darkened Tostato

I'll just give a couple of days for the participants to chime in / confirm. And then I'll just liase with Antonio to set things up on his site. Should be able to kick things off within the week.
The link itself should be active for about 2 weeks.

Chisel 2 is slightly more generous than the Hawksbill and Soft Square. For those 2 I would generally advise going up a half size.
If you have a lowish instep and narrow foot you could probably take the Chisel 2 in your regular size.

Sounds good, I’m in. How does it compare to say gg tg73, eg 82, Carmina rain, CJ 341, and winson Kirin/qilin in fit?
