Sounds good, I’m in. How does it compare to say gg tg73, eg 82, Carmina rain, CJ 341, and winson Kirin/qilin in fit?

Hmmm, this is a tricky question to answer.
I am mostly a UK8.5, in many lasts
I have only worn Chisel 2 in UK9, or modified UK8.5 (slight increments in toe box width and instep).
I am a clear 8.5 in both Rain and 341.
So if I were to compare the Chisel 2 in 8.5 to the same size Rain and 341, I would say it is shorter, and narrower in the toebox than both of them, with likely a comparable instep to Rain.
The Kirin, I've only tried it on a boot so the instep can't be compared. Kirin is certainly more generous in the toebox though.

I’m a clear 8 in rain and Kirin so it sounds like an 8.5

TM, could I ask how would you compare the toe box width and instep of the Chisel 2 to Carmina’s Simpson last? Thanks!

I've tried both the Chisel 2 and Simpson in 9.
The instep on Simpson is definitely lower and the toe box is narrower as well.

I'm 8.5E UK in CJ 341, GG TG73 in UK 9E is too tight in toebox (9.5E UK would too long), MH71 in UK 9E is the narrowest I can take, Carmina Simpson in 8.5E UK is too narrow in toebox.

I took 9F UK in Chisel 2 but I can squeeze in 9E UK in Chisel 2, I definitely need 9F UK in Soft Square.

All feet are different but may be this can help. the last and sizes below work for me:

  1. GG TG73: UK 11.5 E or UK 11 F fit equally well
  2. EG 82: UK 11 E
  3. CJ 341: UK 10.5 E (Slightly tight at first, OK once broken in)
  4. A.M Chisel 2: UK 11 F
(No Carmina shoes on rain last)

Given that there are no new strong objections, I think we can actually kick off the GMTO, if there are no pullouts.

These will be the specs based on the common denominators:

View attachment 1204044

View attachment 1204050

View attachment 1204051

Construction: Argentum welted

Last: Chisel 2

Fitting: Standard (E)

Uppers: Boxcalf, no contrast for facings and heel counters

Colour: Caffe Tostato with darkening. Picture reference below is undarkened.

View attachment 1204065

Cost: 550 Euros (Ex VAT)

Options for non standard widths, half vibram outsoles, taps, fitted trees, will be available on checkout at extra costs. Individual preferences allowed.

Thanks everyone! Definitely couldn't do it without you guys!
Hi @ThunderMarch

I'm good with the specifications. Feel free to let me know the GMTO link once it lives.

Thanks for organizing this and looking forward to seeing how darken Caffe Tostato end up with.

Best,
Chester

Alright gents,

I believe all the loose ends have been tied up.
Antonio has also been informed of the specs.
We are good to go.
So I'll ask Antonio to get the link up live on say... Monday?
