I recently took advantage of the Black Friday sale at The Sabot and went ahead and ordered their suede captoe with rubber sole. I chose The Sabot among the myriad of other options as the shoes were seemingly well priced and came with shoe trees. To be honest, I actually thought I had ordered the suede brogue as I was humming and hawing about the brogue versus the Oxford and ended up ordering late at night.

When the shoes arrived,I was quite dismayed to see that the suede on the left upper was completely different from the suede on the remainder of the shoe as well as from that on the right shoe. see the pictures below. This is after a thorough brushing as well.

When I contacted The Sabot, I was told that this was simply “normal variation” in suede. I have personally never seen such a degree of “normal variation” on a pair of suede shoes before. These shoes should have been rejected by QC. My subsequent emails have gone unanswered.

The shoes are unwearable. Buyer beware.

I have seen this type of variation before in a pair I received (from somewhere else) but in that case the retailer (aside the same explanation) also offered me to return them (and accept all shipping charges).

I had a great experience with the Sabot in the past but this is a bit disappointing indeed...
